2020 LEXUS ES SEDAN

2020 LEXUS ES SEDAN

The Lexus ES is the upscale automaker’s midsize sedan and competes with products like the Mercedes-Benz C and E-Class, Audi A5 and A6 and the BMW 5-Series. It’s about the same size as a Toyota Camry and for many buyers who don’t want to go the SUV route, it’s just the right size – not too big and not too small and restrictive. “ES,” incidentally, stands for “Executive Sedan.”

In recent times, the ES has become more visually appealing than it was before and the 2020 model is a very handsome car indeed with just the right amount of subtle sculpturing to make for a dramatic look. In profile, the ES presents a coupe-like appearance that most people will love. All the lighting, front and rear, is LED.

Although this is not an oversized car by any means, Lexus has created an interior almost as roomy as the big LS model. Even the back seats, often providing cause for complaint, are spacious and roomy. Certainly, five adult occupants can be carried in considerable comfort. The front seats have ten-way power adjustment.

As with so many Lexus (and Toyota) models, buyers have a choice of powertrains. Basic engine for the ES 350 is a 3.5-litre V-6 paired with an eight-speed transmission. It’s a smooth and silky 302-horsepower engine and shifts are almost imperceptible.

Alternatively, buyers can opt for the ES 300h hybrid, which uses a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder in association a high capacity nickel metal hydride storage battery. The hybrid develops 215-horsepower and you get the smooth, torquey, feeling that powerplants like this offer. Of course, the hybrid has very low emissions and fuel economy is in the 5.5-litres/100 km range. This is not a plug-in hybrid. The batteries are charged continually when driving using highly sophisticated technology.

Inside the car, new technology abounds to make this Lexus a real joy to drive and to live with. All ES models boast new Lexus Display Audio with an 8-inch screen and an array of ten speakers. As expected with any Lexus or Toyota product, the car includes a long list of safety technologies for maximum occupant security.

Lexus, owners enjoy a vehicle with an almost unmatched level of build quality and durability. There are at least six trim package variations available, including F Sport models, and these are best discussed with you Lexus dealer.
