The holiday season is officially here. On November 20th, the 14 dealerships at the Richmond Auto Mall and co-presenter Richmond News will team up with16 lead sponsors and over 270 volunteers at the Richmond Auto Mall to paint the Windows of Hope, a fundraiser benefiting the Richmond Christmas Fund. Last year’s event raised a record $37,000 for the Richmond families in need. It was all about teamwork, community, and holiday spirit. Windows of Hope is an annual event that involves painting the windows of Richmond Auto Mall in an effort to raise money for the Richmond Christmas Fund. Ethel Tibbits started the fund in the 1930s, still going strong they help Richmond’s residents who don’t have the financial means to prepare a festive meal or purchase gifts get a little every Christmas.
This year’s festive activities begin a week before the ‘official day’ with volunteers from Sage Software Canada Ltd. cleaning the feature windows and drawing holiday scene outlines for the painters. On the big day over 270 volunteers will come to the mall to paint 24 holiday windows at the 14 dealerships throughout the Mall. And, Jack 96.9 and News 1130 will be on site at our Acura Richmond dealership to greet the volunteers and share some swag.
All the volunteers will be treated to coffee and hot chocolate generously supplied by Starbucks. Trays of yummy cookies donated by Boy With a Knife Catering. And, every volunteer gets a Richmond Auto Mall bag filled with gifts from the 14 dealerships, McDonald’s Richmond,Starbucks, News 1130. And to finish off the giving moments there will be a raffle door prize giveaway.
Painting groups are then disbursed throughout the mall to designated windows to put colourful holiday spirit into the window and bring it to life. Thank you to Domino’s Pizza for cooking up not one, not two, but 72 pizzas. Our heartfelt thanks goes to 609 Richmond RCACS Cadet Band and the Langley First Capital Barbershop Chorus for filling the dealerships with wonderful holiday melodies!
On November 21st the windows will be filled with Christmas images bringing us into the holiday season with smiles and hopes for families in need. The 24 windows will be on display until January 3rd, so cruise our Auto Mall and take a look at all the colourful works of art.
We’d like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to our dedicated and generous sponsors. Without your help Windows of Hope would not be possible.
